Imagine a day without gaming, art, music or entertainment – all because you are illiterate.

Now imagine a lifetime. Reading can often be a pathway to comfort, escape, and adventure – especially during a global pandemic. Currently, 250 million children around the world are not learning and this number continues to increase as students continue to experience various forms of school closures as a result of the COVID-19 pandemic.

As learning losses continue to grow, the World Bank estimates that an additional 72 million primary school children will experience learning poverty – meaning that they will be unable to read and understand a simple text by age 10.

Game On! is a proud supporting partner of Room to Read to help education endure throughout the pandemic and beyond.

Through Game On! 2022, we hope to raise awareness, explore innovative ways to give and encourage donations to support Room to Read’s programs across the globe for the world’s most vulnerable children.

Founded in 2000 on the belief that World Change Starts with Educated Children®, Room to Read is creating a world free from illiteracy and gender inequality. Room to Read is achieving this goal by helping children in historically low-income communities develop literacy skills and a habit of reading, and by supporting girls as they build skills to succeed in school and negotiate key life decisions.

Their collaboration with governments and other partner organizations delivers positive outcomes for children at scale. Room to Read has benefitted more than 32 million children across 21 countries and in more than 49,000 communities with a goal of reaching 40 million children by 2025.
